Well, it's not necessary hardback for me as it is hardcopy. I love books and the printed word. I like the smell of a new book. I like holding a book in my hands. I don't want to see books become obsolete.

You're right, some hardback gaming books are terribly bound like the old Unearthed Arcana from 1st AD&D. I think that book fell apart with my first reading.
