Default jean durupt

Greetings all

My name is Jean Durupt and I like roleplaying games.

The BRP is one of my favourite systems, so I subscribed to this forum.

I hope that the new edition wil be a commercial success

Regards
Jean

Hi Jean! Welcome to the board! :-)

What kind of BRP incarnations have you tried earlier?

I began with RQIII

I played with Stormbringer (3rd?, no spells only summons) and with Elric (spells + summons)

Jean

So, you've played more games in 2 years than I have in the last 20 - so who's the inexperienced one?
Thanks for putting that in perspective, solta; I guess I've been really lucky in terms of falling in with a fairly active gaming club here on campus, even if most of the members only play Magic: The Gathering.

But, BRP has spoiled a lot of people, myself included.
TFT would also probably benefit from someone other then my housemate Jeremy describing it, as the two points he's made that stick in my head are "You can die during chargen" and "I once made this ridiculously overpowered giant mage that could throw like ten fireballs per attack"

"You can die during chargen"

Now there's a clever technique guaranteed to get new players interested in role-playing games.

Depends on the system: From my brief experience of Traveller, chargen was the fun part...

Default Good Afternoon.

Afternoon.

My name's J, and I'm a Call of Cthulhu fanatic. I've been playing since 198whatever when the first edition came out.

I've been looking at BRP for a while now with a view to getting rid of all my AD&D stuff and using BRP instead.

No, I don't like vampire ducks.

Hi J. (In Triff's absence, welcome a-board!)

Yes, bin that AD&D and go BRP! I had an AD&D campaign since the 70's, and wasted 20 years being dissatisfied and trying to fix the rules - before finally switching to a BRP/RQ-like system. And what a relief: It's great! It works! It feels so right! (And vampiric ducks are entirely optional).

You'll love it, since you so like CoC... (oo-er, missus!)

Thanks for the welcome, Frogspawner

I'm thinking about waiting for the corrected, proper version to come out in 2k8 rather than getting the beta from Chaosium.

I need to get through Christmas before doing anything else though.

Open: Is anyone running games over Christmas, and if so does anyone have any tips for including festive tidbits in them?
