Hehe, so you would like a testrun with the database marking too? Okay, five more request for that and we'll start a testrun. This would be followed with a poll later, to see what the final result would be, and if anyone experienced any slow-down.

Oh, and what are the new things you are adding?

Not immediately, but I plan to add ReviewPost, where members can write reviews about RPG books & supplements, which also calculates the average score each product is given from the members. I might also add a program for classified adds after that, for buying and selling used RPG stuff btw. our members.

One thing that annoy me a bit too is that the thread (it seems) is only marked as read if you exit it through the forum jump menu at the bottom. I doubt there is anything I can do with that though. (was that what you meant?)

The only thing the database handling would change things is that threads that were unread when you log out, will show up as unread the next time you log in too (even though no "new" posts have been added in the meantime).

No, I didn't know that.
What I meant was that for whatever reason messages that I haven't read are suddenly marked as read. This happens while I'm still logged in.
So I can't just go to a thread and click the "first unread message" link. If I haven't logged in a for a day or two and and the latest thread bashing Mongoose has 666 pages it's a bit difficult to remember where you were last time.

Okay-dokay, we can do a test run.

I'll start it up tomorrow, and we'll see how it impacts performance.

New databased system of marking threads have been switched over to. It will log more accurately than the cookie-based one, and will keep records for up to 10 days (threads with no posts in 10 days are marked as read though).

Do report if you experience any slowed performance on the board.
