I wound't expect anything from MRQ to be in BRP. It isn't like BRP is the continuation of MRQ, but a continuation of the RQ/SB/CoC line.

I liked the RQ:AiG version. A successful sneak/hide halved the listen/scan chance of the guard (more if the guard was not expecting anything).

Adventures in Glorantha was the never released 4th edition of RQ that was being developed in the mid 90s.

For the rule, I use how much the first successful roll was made by as a penalty on the opposition's roll. If the first successful roll was special, the penalty is doubled. If the first roll was a crit, the penalty is tripled.

That sounds good too. Care to join the debate over on the new "math wars" thread (Opposed rolls) ?

I see nothing wrong with a quality versus quality comparison on contested rolls; I understand some of the issues once that isn't sufficient, but I frankly don't understand what people consider cumbersome about the quality versus quality one, as assessing skill quality is something everyone I knew in RQ was used to doing twenty-five years ago.

Honest to gods, sometime I think people are so fixated on speed I wonder why they don't just flip a coin and call it good...

From the newest R'lyeh Report:

Quote:
Chaosium's Basic Roleplaying book (#2020, $39.95) continues to be
edited and tweaked. I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's
probably coming out in late May or June, artwork willing. Hopefully
we'll have them by the Tentacles show! See Below. Meanwhile, you can
purchase an advance readers copy on our website.
