I"d run it as a supers camgpain and use the trappings of a fantasy game. I don't see what the problem would be. Sure THor or Herc are going run roughshod over a typical fantasy character. Yes a Darktroll or golbin isn't going to be that big a threat, UNLESS said Darktroll is beefed up to superscale too. But then, they usually aren't that big of a challenge to characters like THor in the comics, either.

I did something along those lines years ago in Superworld, when on of the PC superheroes didn't listen when he was told "Don't touch that!" and accidentally transported the group back in time.

Well, we all know that BRP is not GURPS. (thankfully) And it is centered on realistic, gritty game settings and not on settings with demigods or crossovers of mortals and comic superheroes. Its simply not the job of the BRP engine to enable every unsensible combination of genres without a second thought.
Its like crossing Roger Rabbit with Aliens and complaining afterwards that it does not work.

Frankly, and as a Hero player, no, I don't think Hero scales up easily.

Badcat beat me to it. Supers are the odd man out here. It would be much better to ignore that one and focus on BRPs strenght, "realistic" fantasy, modern and sci-fi settings.

Mongoose RQ has not turned out to be what I wanted it to be.

BRP has not turned out to be what I wanted it to be.

Clearly these professional game designers don't know nearly as much about game design as amateurs like me.

RosenMcStern made the point that everyone in Italy could do a better job of being Italy's Football Coach than the current coach, no matter who he is. The same applies to RPGs.

Not ignore, but separate. Super games are a different kind. I can't speak for GURPS, but for HERO, this is also clear. Superheroic games have different rules than than the others.

A quick note that while I'm not ignoring this thread, and there are some valid questions (some of which will be further clarified in the text), I'm hammered today with household stuff, babysitting while my wife's doing a photo shoot, writing some stuff for work and another project (my next BRP sourcebook) and trying to squeeze in some proofing BRP into the time remaining.

I'll address relevant issues when I've got the time.

Soltakss has a pointy point. So does Kloster, and to what he said I want to add that one of the prime systems designed for supers (HERO) has never worked for any OTHER genre, IMO. BRP is amazing that it works so well for EVERY other genre, again IMO. When I had WoW, the one booklet that never got touched was Superworld. And frankly, if the BRP book was 'balanced' so that the powers were completely interchangeable I doubt I would be interested at all.

In my entirely unscientific experience, its probably the second or third most common genre among U.S. gamers. Also, remember that a super powers system has a lot of other uses besides just for comic book supers; if you want something like the White Wolf setting where you play supernatural beings, it gives you a balanced system for doing so.
