I'm smelling something for the link list!

Tell us when anythings ready!

You're not the only one. While that whole lunar rocketing through space bit doesn't make sense, Space 1999 would make for a fantastic near-future setting if limited to our solar system.

Of course I'd enjoy playing in a strict Space 1999 setting, but doubt my players would.

I agree, the premise that the moon could have been ejected from earth orbit at faster than light speeds and manage to "accidentally" arrive at a new world every week or so is far fetched. But that didn't stop me from getting the while series on DVD a month ago, and loving every episode.

The thing I always liked was how "realistic" the tech looked. Just like what I imagine NASA would be using on and around Luna orbit had we kept up with the moon missions. I love Gary Anderson's stuff, even the stuff with strings.

I came up with a somewhat plasiuble explanation for this. About the only one I can think of. Somehow the magnetic elctrical blast meched up Alpha's artificial gravity system and the moon effective mass dropped for a little while. Since gravity is a function of mass (just how gravity works is still something of a mystery), then an artificali gravity system probably creates artificial mass. Since the Eagles are said to have one that allows them to reduce gravitational effects (so they can turn at high speeds without the crew slamming into a bulkhead and turning into jam), then it can be surmmised that they work in revser.

So somehow the "explosion" messed around with the artifical gravity and reduced the moons effective mass to the point where it could be moved.

Plausible, if you have an artifical gravity/antigravity device. I didn't think we do and pretty certain we didn't last decade, but who knows what SHADO kept secret from us at Area 51.

But them, I don't keep up with the news and completely missed that whole nuclear war we had in 1987!

I could post a link with my not quite complete write up for the Eagle. I'd love to put some of the stuff, like character creation, equipment and all that up somewhere, but since the setting is a copywritten, owned property, I'm hesitant to do so.

Generally, companies have been very tolerant of fan produced, non-profit things like RPGs, and realize that going after the fans is a good way to loose fans (and sales). And it isn't like Carton's gone after the Space:1999 RPG websites, but since this isn't my website, I'm not about to do so.

A email on the other hand, is a different matter. Of course if Triff doesn't mind if I post a link to a jpg that is hosted at imageshack or some such, that is cool too.

I just don't want to put Triff at any risk, no matter how slight. Especially without his permission.

Just go ahead and post the link, or add it to the download section!

As long as it's your work, your written words, with conversion notes for BRP, then I don't mind.

(Maybe just include a "setting trademark/copyright by blahblah..." sentence)

If the owners of the setting complain, I'll just remove it. As I'm situated in Norway, I'm not much afraid of senseless lawsuits.

My day job is a day-and-night job, so everything I'm doing is ongoing campaign related. Unfortunately a whole lot of stuff got partially-finished-but-I'm-using-it-anyway before I got busy.
  • Getting my regular characters involved in a local war
  • Figuring out what exactly will happen if they fail to stop the barriers to Chaos from falling down (as looks likely right now)
  • Finishing my ritual magic rules so that players can use them
  • Organizing the detritus of a 25 year old campaign

On top of that I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to switch to Zero from home-baked rules (and trying not to break the binding while I look through it)

It's not so much the text as the art. For the stuff I put on-line I made sure to use clip art that was free, or at least free for non-commercial use. With Sapce, I used screen caps, and other series related art. Fine for a house campaign but not so good for mass consumption. I could check and see just what is someone's personal work and what is open Space:1999 material. TO some extend I can't see someone getting upsetting and accusing someone of ripping off his picture for a Sci-Fi setting that he is ripping off, but that me.

I'll see what can fly. But then with you in Norway, you have a lot more freedom in this regard than I do in the US with some of it new draconic laws. It actually a felony to buy and sell used DVDs now. Not that most people are aware of some of the "oopses" of the DMCA and PIRATE Act.

Sporadically converting HeroQuest cults to RQ format.

Trying to write snippets for Mythic Russia but never having the time.

Writing background for our RQ campaign.

Planning to convert some of Birchbark Chronicles I to RQ when it comes out.

Planning to convert HeroQuest Homelands to RQ.

Eventually finishing off my map of Dragon Pass/Prax/Shadows Dance and Northern Holy Country.

Running RQ and playing HQ each week.

Keeping in touch with BRP/RQ/Gloranthan Forums.

Winding people up on said Forums.

Never, ever, taking things too seriously.

Greetings

- Continuing to develop my xRQ based campaign and thinking about how I may be able to use large chunks of BRP for it.

- Working on a 1933 background and plot which may eventually require a system to run it (not CoC as such as no supernaturals).

Regards

Edward

Started up College again.

Joined the Roleplaying and Ainime Clubs at Umass.

Currently I'm taking the bits I like in MRQ and the Zero edition BRP for some Pulp gaming.
