Lightbulb DeadWorld

Seraphim Guard will utilize the first BRP license Chaosium has given out for their upcoming DeadWorld RPG, which they plan to release in fall 2008 at the Wizards World Chicago comic convention.

The DeadWorld RPG setting is based upon Gary Reed's DeadWorld comic. A supernatural plague have been unleased upon the world, and the dead returns to walk the earth. The zombies are soldiers for those who have crossed the Gateway, and have intelligent leader zombies. For humans, it's quite the struggle just to stay alive.

Currently the game is in its alpha-test stage. A notice will be given out when Seraphim starts looking for playtesters. This game will not just be CoC with zombies the publisher promise us, but something entirely new. Something to look forward to in 2008!

Although I don't like zombie stuff, I suppose any spread of BRP is a good thing in my book. I rather wish it was something more palatable, though.

I was never fond of fighting zombies in RQ cause they took so much time to kill, but I've never tried playing a zombie game before. Have you tried out any of the existing zombie-settings?

Sverre.

No. The idea of zombies (as PCs, especially) just creeps me out so much I tend to avoid any media about them. I had a group that played 'Deadlands' a few years ago, and although I liked the game as far as mechanics and setting, I wound up sitting it out while they were playing it. I hung out and tried not to listen too much, after the GM had my character lynched and then informed me I didn't have to make a new character, I would just keep playing as one of the Harrowed. It's just me. Although I will never pick Deadworld up, anything that helps BRP get recognized more is fine with me...but I cannot deal with zombies and such. So I'll be passing on that one. We all have these irrational things, I guess.

According to Chris (unsure about his last name) from Seraphim Guard, there won't be much support for playing zombies. I will check it out when it's released, and post a review.

OK, but zombies....ick,ick,ick.

But I went to see '3:10 to Yuma' today, and immediately started thinking about using BRP for a Western game with horror elements. And wondering if the upcoming book would support a BRP Deadlands game (except I would never try to make anyone play a Harrowed) ick, ick, ick.

As I posted in another thread, I'm running a Wild West game using RQ3 rules, and it works great. That would be one of the first things I'd be looking for.

Sounds like a fun alternative to straight "Were all doomed CoC".

Will there be alternate insanity/stress rules?

I'm only familiar with the earlier issues of Deadworld and that was a while back... but I'm kind of looking forward to the game as a supernatural post-apocalypse setting... with zombies.
The zombies and their masters are a threat, but so are other humans and the environment (weather, disease, animals, basic survival).
I'll have to look at the game when it comes out but I'm not really clear on how much 'Deadworld' specific stuff I'd need to run the game the way I imagine it.

One thing for sure, King Zombie is getting a makeover cause I hated that character in the books.

Hmmm. sound interesting and might try it. Only problem is I never read the dead world comic but think I should be OK as long as no "expert" come along as says, you cant do that in issue 14 , page 6 it stated that so and so happen this way. Of course saying such thing in my game tend to draw the attention of Nylorlathotep but we will not mention that.
