You start a new swords'n'sorcery book ( The sum of all men by David Farland ) which has an interesting magical system and the first thing you think isn't" hey thats clever" or "nice plot twist" but "now, how do I translate that into BRP/RQ mechanics?"

As a player.
When you watch a film or TV series where the actors split up in the zombie ridden/Alien/gangster ridden house and Think. "Pah, never catch one of my characters doing something that dumb..." As a GM re the above: "oh...the actors have split up. If this was one of my games they would be in real trouble about now..Heh! Heh!" ![]() (More so if a Cthulhu Keeper.) When the weather person says there is going to be a 60% chance of rain and you run in your game room and get the dice.
When you have a game room that doesn't have a pool table in it. When you cancel the weekly game because it's you and your wifes 10 year anniversary and she gets upset and makes you call everyone back. All true, Rod

When you size up someone, you mentally assign them statistics for their abilities and skills and compare them to your own.
