Default Just want to chime in with encouragement

Neorxnawang:

Your setting sounds, philosophically, very similar to the homegrown one I myself employ: low magic, strong religious motivation and metamorphosis, areas of intense physical struggle as various societies try to rise above a moral, "technological" and spiritual collapse of a previously "Golden-Age" that wasn't all that golden.

I am rarely interested in a supplement beyond its collection value (not future monetary value but simply collection "I've-got-them-all" value); yours however, has piqued my content interest. I most enjoy my players role-playing and dealing with such situations in game-play that go beyond the common encounter and dice resolution. Not everyone's cuppa tea, I know, but one my players have been willing to come to the table for (...at least until the advent of WoW and AoC--but that's another story ...). I must confess, I look forward to reading how you handle both the theme and philosophical bent of your work as much as I look forward to BRP itself.

Hack and slash, sword and sorcery I love but a mind bending, debate inspiring dilemma or two never hurt

Cheers!

Sunwolfe

Congratulations on the publication of your supplement. It sounds fascinating. I'm primarily a Call of Cthulhu guy, but I will definitely be purchasing the print version of your game when it comes out.

So has anyone got the PDF? How is it? What are the production values like? Are there any bits you found particularly interesting that have not been covered by the authors description? How prevalent is demonic influence? Is it a lot different in feel to say WFRP or Evernight?

Still waiting for a dead tree version, but will definitely get one then.
A bit unfortunate that Chaosium didn't make a cover that gave a better feel of the setting, but it's the inside that counts. Anyone got the pdf yet?

Yes, I have the PDF of Ashes to Ashes...

It's public-domain-19th-to-early-20th-century-art helps give the setting a . . . strange feel. The writing is engaging without being too flowery.

The "map of the world" isn't terribly big, which will cause some to complain and give others great ideas for how to expand The World.

Layout is double-column and clear. The heading font isn't my favorite, but is easy to read and not tiring to look at. (I'm a stickler for fonts!)

The *content* documents a very harsh world, overrun by demons, paranoia running rampant, and all resources in short supply. Magicians are (to say it lightly) shunned by society; religion is drawing in on the reins on the commoners for their own good.

Then, there's the demons' agendas.

Looking over the stat-blocks for NPCs, the Allegiance option is being used to inform the GM what motivates them, as well as detailed write-ups on their position within the setting. (Note that typed "motivates them" - they are referred to as "Allegiance Tendencies"...)

It also appears that hit locations are NOT used.

I'm only about 50 pages into this 180-page PDF, and am enjoying it entirely!

Well done to the author! Thanks for sharing this very bleak world.

Good. I'm too old and have too little gaming time to be bothered by hit locations.
