Default Arthur C Clarke

Completely off topic I know, but veteran science fiction author Arthur C Clarke died last week ( tuesday I think ) aged 90. I thought I'd mention it as lots of folk here seem to like SF ( including me ).

Yes, it was very sad news indeed. I will miss him, he was one of the great
authors of the kind of Hard SF I prefer, and his books and his interest in
space and in the oceans have sparked the water world setting I am cur-
rently working on - one of the NPCs, the founder of the colony there, was
influenced by my view of Clarke ...

Hmmm... I thought he had been dead for years...
I can't say I've ever read anything by him... but still recognize the passing of greatness.
