Please don't. That would force people to go to the wiki. So anyone who decides NOT to use the wiki is left out in the cold.

Why do a site AND a wiki anyway?

As Magistus' link will tell you, it's basically a way for websites to tell you they've been updated without you actually visiting them to check. Popular with blogs and news sites.
I have a little icon sitting in my taskbar that that tells me I have unread messages on various sites and blogs. When I click it a window opens listing them as either the whole message or a headlines type of thing and a link to go to.
I've just enabled RSS feeds. Here's the links:

http://basicroleplaying.com/forum/ex....php?type=rss1
http://basicroleplaying.com/forum/ex....php?type=rss2

Is it obvious where you go to get the rss feed if you know what it is, or should add a link somewhere else too?

Okay, I'm not entirely sure what you mean by this as I'm pretty new to this software. What would be the difference between a normal page and a wiki page? If I provided a link to the link list, going to a wiki page or any other page should not be that different?

And what do you mean with your last question? Why do a site AND a wiki? Haven't really dealt with wikis before, so I'm not really able to figure out what you mean.

I was thinking that the Wiki would be in addition to the man site, not a replacement for it. I visit a couple other rpg sites, and the wiki is usually a separate webpage. So what is on the wikipage is not necessarily on the other page. I can think of a couple of instances where that caused problems, as files on the site were not indentical to ones on the wiki (wrong version of the file, older versions, etc.). This literally led to everyone not being on the same page in some cases. People who DL7d files from the wiki weren't getting the same files.

I don't really see any real benefit to having a wiki for an RPG anyway. I've yet to see a wiki that has actually helped, and I have the poor navigation that they have.

As some one that has had quite a bit to do with Wiki both personally and professionally, I feel the opposite of what you say. A wiki can be a very good addition to a site, specially for Role Playing purposes. As for the layout this all depends on the way it is setup.

Thanks, very useful. Just a question, is it possible to configure this so the feed updates when someone replies to a thread? As it is now, as far as I can tell, it only updates when a new thread is created. I suppose I could subscribe to each individual thread, but well.

I've just posed a question about that at the vBulletin.org support forum. We'll see.

Hmm... I'm still not following you, this may be to my lack of experience with wikis. Anyway, we will have a wiki - the software is allready bought, and I think it will be a good place for members to put houserules, new spells, conversion rules etc. But upon your request I'll make the link list with vBadvanced modules instead.
